Oscar was successfully extubated at 9:50am this morning. He has a nasal endotracheal airway in for now. He is continuing to be on NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) settings on the ventilator. His NAVA Level is at 1.0 which we would like to get back to 0.0 and his PEEP (Positive End Expiratory Pressure) Level is at an 8 which we would like to get back to 7. He is sleeping and snuggling on Dad right now. Oscar and I had a rough evening as Oscar tried to self extubate around midnight and had to be constantly watched the remainder of the evening. Thank you to his night nurses for sitting by his bedside and keeping a watchful eye on him while I slept 12-3am and 5-7am.
Your prayers and ours have been heard and Brian and I can’t thank you enough for covering our family in prayer not only for Oscar, but for Theodore, Brian, and I as well. Our God meets our needs daily and He knows and loves Oscar and Theodore more than we do. Trusting God with our children is not easy and this extubation today is a sweet reminder that God’s got this! We just need to continually trust in Him.
